Often times the jewelry that needs the most repair is the jewelry you love the most, because you wear it all the time. It can be expensive to repair your beloved jewelry, sometimes more than you paid for the jewelry. Sometimes the best option is to remake the ring. And here is why:

One reason is the price can actually be less to custom design than repair your existing jewelry. We can use your gold and stones to recreate your jewelry almost exactly the same as when you first purchased it. Often, more gold will need to be added to make it durable again. But using what you have can be one of the best ways to keep the cost down.

Second, throughout the years your jewelry has probably been repaired here and there. Sometimes it’s the shank of the ring that is wearing thin (bottom part of the ring) or rebuilding prongs that are holding the stones in. Rebuilding on an already wore piece of jewelry can make it look a little different. When you custom design instead of repairing the jewelry, it is new again and ready for more wear throughout the years.

Most importantly, take your jewelry to someone you trust and get their opinion. Even if you have good relationship with your jeweler, getting a second option is a good idea. Some jewelers might have a different idea that make you feel more comfortable. Taking it to a locally owned jeweler is your best option to get advice.
